Next Wednesday is the release date for War of Kings: Darkhawk #2… the long awaited second and final part of this character’s possible entry into the Marvel Universe’s forefront lineup–ok, maybe B-list lineup at least. It’s a move up from C-list and that’s good enough for me! I’ve collected more Darkhawk commissions since last I posted about them so I’ll go ahead and try to do one a day until next Wednesday as part of the second XEI Darkhawk Appreciation Week!

This commission was requested from Alejandro I. Rebolledo Dunay (link to DeviantArt Gallery), an illustrator from Chile because I wanted a different art-style take on good ol’ helmet-head. Alejandro gives us a watercolor piece that references more of the slicked “Darkhawk 2.0″ armor from the mid-90s but re-designs the glider wings in a more organic way while still keeping their artificial roots. I will eventually be getting this original piece and can’t wait to see it up close!

My hunt for Darkhawk commissions had to come to a pause in order to recoup some more funds (and because getting back into comics has demanded first priority) but artwork from artists who wouldn’t normally take on such requests might be my new collector’s angle for a while. Alejandro does a great job that makes me confident and curious for more!
