Look at what I found folks! That’s right the first Marvel Super Heroes Roleplaying Game writeup for Darkhawk presented in a 1991 issue of Dragon Magazine’s Marvel-Phile segment! Back when I was a teenager and got into the Marvel RPG I remember coming across this article… then lost the magazine. It was alright though because I then found a Darkhawk writeup in an actual Marvel RPG character sourcebook that included Darkhawk (along with Portal I believe, maybe even Savage Steel). I’ll dig that book up eventually as well and scan those pages and show them on this blog.
This entry is special because it came out immediately after the Darkhawk ongoing series started. It was a form of promotion for the “new greatest hero”. These stats represent him as the street-level eager teenage superhero. He’s a rookie true and pure.
Also, for those who believe C.B.Cebulski (Loners) or Brian K. Vaughan (Runaways) were the first ones to really push the whole temper aspect of Chris Powell and Darkhawk–think again. This write up which includes maybe the first 3 issues of the series already points out in more than one instance that Chris’s temper was already very much in the forefront to deal with. If you have the patience to read through my “Comprehensive Timeline” of each issue and appearance (still in progress), I also try to point out every time Chris or Darkhawk have a temper tantrum.
