I first encountered the Heroscape game up close and personal at GenCon Indy 2006. It is manufactured by Wizards of the Coast (Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering TCG), a subsidiary of Hasbro. There was a detailed landscape model in the Hasbro booth area. The massive landscape was built with interlocking hexagonal tiles. The figures where Marvel superheroes, pre-painted and beautifully detailed. With all the HeroClix hype still hot in the air that year, I was surprised to see Marvel jump on to another product that was–for all intents and purposes–a direct competitor to HeroClix.

Well the HeroClix figures are still coming out, so no harm done. In the meanwhile uber-fans dedicated to expanding Heroscape emerged. One of them is UranusPChicago. I found a ton of custom card designs on the Heroscapers community forums and also found his collection on Photobucket. Here’s his Darkhawk custom card for all you fans out there. HeroClix came out with a Darkhawk figure before Topps folded the Wizkids line pre-acquisition by NECA. It should do just fine as a fill-in for your game.
