I gave you a look at the Darkhawk Marvel Universe sheet–so now let me show you what the Portal sheet looked like. This sheet was released in the 30th stack of the collection in 1993.

This write up is pretty dead on right throughout Portal’s appearances throughout the series. He’s a mutant who can open portals to other dimensions… he just happens to be outfitted in armor and weaponry from different alien’s he’s stolen it from across the multiverse. My only concern, even in the books, is that he effectively combated against what can be presumed to be trained soldiers. If anything Little Sky here at least deserves recognition for being a decent combatant.

The big deal about his story is that he wore components of a Darkhawk armor. My question 15 years later post-War of Kings is: What the hell are they gonna do with him considering the continuity changes. I mean, it’s easy enough to accept Darkhawk inventing a ton of crap in his head about Evilhawk being an alternate configuration, Null space and Osch, etc… but then, how do you explain Portal being right there along with Darkhawk during most of the cosmic-based story arcs near the end of the ongoing series?

If Razor and Talon “were the last two Darkhawk left” then how do you explain Charles Little Sky defeating a Darkhawk and stealing parts of it’s armor? It’d be a great unfortunate turn to erase Portal from the Marvel Universe–and more complicated then it’s worth. Portal first appeared in Avengers, he’s battled the U-Foes before Darkhawk, heck, he’s even at the beginning of Marvel Zombies 3–which is in continuity.

Portal is one of my favorites from the Darkhawk rogue’s gallery and I look forward to seeing how they retcon his place in the Darkhawk canon.
