Oh Portal, where have you been all my life (for the last 15 years)?… Except in a cameo in Marvel Zombies III (which I will buy eventually in trade for that fact alone)! Here’s the write up for Charles Little Sky from the Marvel Superheroes RPG from 1992. This was a character I loved, loved, loved for the entire Darkhawk run. Not just because he LOOKED like Darkhawk, but because I felt it was the only other character who got great development as a young potential superhero.
Now with the whole “Darkhawk making up key moments of his past” to account for retconning his origin during War of Kings, it’s kinda unfortunate, saddening, and confusing as to what connection Darkhawk and Portal DID make, and how Portal sees their relationship nowadays. It’d be perfect if Little Sky ended up at Project PEGASUS; it’d make sense with his transdimentional portal powers.
Anyways, similar to Darkhawk, not only in appearance, but violent demeanor, here’s a cool point to mention in the Role-Playing Notes section:
It is obvious that he suffered greatly while trapped in the dimension from which Darkhawk originates…
After War of Kings: Ascension and the Darkhawk miniseries this whole plot point can actually see MORE development. Abnett and Lanning have already created a framework for the world the Raptors exist in–how would Portal fit into that whole new retcon then? I’m hopeful to find out!
