Madness right? Mad Engine Inc, a tshirt manufacturer has a license to do “Marvel Teamup” themed shirt. Look at who’s popped up in the background of this tee! Darkhawk peeks his head over Siren and under Namor and Marvel Boy (Justice).
From Mad Engine Inc:
This is an officially licensed Marvel comics t-shirt where heroes and villains come together in an action packed Marvel team up.
Buckethead Beren Olean emailed me just now stating that he spotted this at a Target while he’s away on a business trip–right after finding out I posted about his pillow tonight–the stars are aligning, I’m telling you!
So, I Google-Fued this with his lead and found the maker’s site, and get an image of it. It seems this tee features members of the West Coast Avengers from the mid-90s; Quicksilver, Stingray, Hawkeye, Spider-Woman… I’m just amazed the slipped Darkhawk in there even though he only showed up for a 3-part series and an Annual. There’s a fan in the design group for sure! Granted, I don’t recall Sandman and Justice on West Coast so someone else out there probably knows more than I do!

This image is a reprint of the Avengers either during, or just after, their confrontation with Morgan La Fey and co. in Avengers (Vol. 3?) #1-4. I think this one is actually from #4, the issue where they’re trying to figure out which Avengers to keep on for the new team. (That’s when Justice and Firestar joined!) If I remember correctly, Whirlwind makes the mistake of confronting the Avengers at the Mansion, only to discover the near-complete roster of every Avenger ever there to stop him.
BTW, during the confrontation with Morgan, DH was in fact put on the strike team that featured all ex-West Coasters.
