I can’t believe I forgot to post this classic Darkhawk piece by artist Corey Breen! The final color is here as well as the starting pencils. You can read about Corey’s process, see each step along the way through inks and color breaks, and history of the coming-abouts of this Darkhawk piece on his blog.
Original pencils by spiderguile Inked by inkmark I love it when artists do group pieces like this and include Darkhawk amongst Spidey’s “friends”. This piece was drawn by “spiderguile“ on DeviantArt and inked by “inkmark” also on DeviantArt. Harkons back to the good ol’ days in the 90s when this relationship of mentor and student was [...]
Just spotted this classic Darkhawk sketch card on DeviantArt by artist Marco David Carrillo. Marco scanned in Darkhawk with three other cards if you click the link to check them out: Deadpool, Night Thrasher and Michael Jordan.
I had the luxury of being contacted by another Buckethead, Kevin White, with two Marvel Masterpiece sketch cards he’s got in his collection. The first is by artist, Benjamin Glendenning. I did some digging around and found his DeviantArt page (skulljammer) and the sheet Darkhawk is featured on. Glendenning’s says that This sheet has my [...]
This was one of the first pieces I spotted on DeviantArt before I was even a member of the site. Here is the Darkhawk Marvel Masterpieces 2008 Sketch Card by Danny Kuang. Darkhawk is decked out in classic gear, straight from Manley’s initial design.. The color pallette is also great in this piece and really [...]
Here’s a classic Darkhawk sketch done by artist, Will Mangin, which I found on DeviantArt a long while ago. From Will’s comments: the greatest hero of the 90s!!! or at least that’s what it said in his first issue. i really did like darkhawk up until mike manley left to draw batman. i really need [...]
Here’s a scan of the Darkhawk entry in the old Marvel Superheroes RPG Gamer’s Handbook from 1992. I used to play MSH back when I was a teen, it was extremely fun. I was extatic when Darkhawk got featured in Dragon Magazine’s Marvel-Philes (also on this site), and then quickly picked this book up when [...]
A few weeks ago I had a bid off with another Buckethead for a vintage Darkhawk Promo Poster (earlier post). I was lucky enough to actually hear back not only from Beren Olean who collects Darkhawk paraphernalia, but his lovely (and awesome) wife Rene as well who scans Ebay for DH goodness for her hubby… and [...]
Found an upcoming sketch card for Marvel’s 70th Anniversary set featuring a classic Darkhawk by artist Charles Hall. This is painted in oil on Rittenhouse stock and measures 2.5″ x 3.5″. It’s great to see artists still pick Darkhawk out of the crowd to feature in these artist sketch cards!
Don’t ask me why I woke up thinking such a trivial matter–one that I was actually just going to ignore outright. But I started thinking of the cameo image that I posted on here after reading Beyond! and keyed into an era of comics that I particularly had an affinity to because that’s when I [...]
